Mel Jay Speech - Meet Our Therapists

I am the founder and director of MelJay Speech Pathology. 

I started the clinic in 2013 and have loved every part of the journey since.

I am deeply passionate about the work we do and the difference speech pathology can make in people’s lives. This passion has led me back to university to study public health, with the goal of addressing growing challenges such as increased demand for services and long waitlists.

I have a strong interest in literacy intervention and am trained in the Sounds-Write program. I have also completed Hanen training and specialist training in the Lidcombe Program for stuttering.

As a mum of three grown children, I understand both the joys and challenges of family life. I love supporting clients and families through their unique journeys and being part of their progress over time.

Outside of work, I enjoy reading, staying active, and spending time with my fur and feather babies.

 I love helping people find their voice and reach their full potential. 

I have worked with people of all ages, but I’m especially passionate about early intervention and supporting strong communication skills from a young age.

I have specialised training in Hanen – More Than Words and Sounds-Write, and I’m particularly passionate about speech sound development and literacy. 

I love breaking skills down in a way that makes learning feel achievable, meaningful, and empowering.

When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me reading a good book, drawing, planning my next trip, or spending time with my dog. 

I believe therapy should be , strengths-based, and a little bit fun because the best learning happens when people feel safe, understood, and encouraged!
